Morning news is a class where students are able to create a LIVE production that the whole school watches daily. Students will be trained on how to use professional news equipment (same equipment is used in the field) such as Audio Mixers and XLR microphones, DMX lighting, Video Switching (TriCaster), Teleprompter, Graphics, Directing, Managing, and more. Students will choose their position at the beginning of the year (subject to change if wanted/need be). Similar to the video classes, students will create segments and other videos to be featured on the news channel. This class also offers a great deal of trips, some past ones include Russia, California, and Seattle; students attend film competitions on these trips and also film in a journalistic style. By the end of the course, students will have a great level of experience with a TV studio and beyond, with complete understanding of how a news station operates.
